Arcane Bloom – A Firework of Individuality

„We are Arcane Bloom – Boom!” This was the sentence all five band members were able to agree on as we asked them how they would describe themselves to someone who hasn’t listened to their music yet. We, here at Uncensored, think the description is brilliant as their music indeed feels like multiple different coloured fireworks go off.

The musical path started early for every band member. Drummer Benji began playing the instrument in elementary school and a lot of his knowledge is self-taught. At age 15 he met guitarist Chris, and they played together in a band for a few months but lost contact afterwards. Two years later they reconnected which led to them rekindling their musical relationship. For Chris it was his dad’s love for music that got him into heavy metal at a very young age which made it clear early on that he wants to play guitar. After he broke his arm and wasn’t able to play for a very long time, he knew that he would have to relearn everything but he was willing to take destiny into his own hands and took it upon himself to learn guitar once again.

For singer and second guitarist Leon it also started in elementary school when he started to get interested in alternative and punk. At age 14 a friend began teaching him how to play the guitar that’s also when he started to get into production which was the key to meeting Benji, whom he got to know because of sound engineering school. While he did release solo stuff he always dreamed about being in a band and with this meeting he came a step closer to fulfilling it. Lena the keyboard player and Robin the bassist met at university. Robin got to know the music of popular artists like Billy Talent, Green Day and Linkin Park through friends and wanted to start learning an instrument. The first instrument he took up was clarinet, but it soon became clear that he needs something with more power. That’s why he switched to bass. At first he just played for himself but at one point he landed on the platform „Bandsuche“ and looked for a Band that was in need of a bass player. Needless to say he found what he was looking for. Lena got introduced to classical music by her mother’s side of the family and played the flute herself for eight years. She hated every minute of it and decided to start playing the keyboard. It was Robin who introduced her to the band and, maybe slightly drunk, she asked them if they were in need of a keyboarder. They took her up on it and with this the band was complete.

In the beginning the band used some of Leon’s old songs but started writing new, original songs pretty much right away. Most of the time it’s Leon or Chris who come up with a new idea and then they start working on it together. Each band member is included in the writing process which leads to them even writing someone else’s part as well. This is something all of them absolutely love. It is also important to them that they don’t do the same thing twice and that no song is like the one before. They include everything that inspires them, beginning with alternative, some funkier melodies as well as some heavier tunes. They let it slip that their upcoming single, which is gonna be released on the 6th of September, has a “Tim Burton vibe” and here at Uncensored we couldn’t be more excited about it!

When it comes to their musical inspirations, they all bring very different influences to the table. From AC/DC and Kiss to Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, Abba, and Japanese City Pop. All this aids them in their quest to make every song of their unique.

But one of the most important parts of being in a Band is of course being on stage. Arcane Bloom is always happy to be on stage and seeing all the people who love to listen to them play. But it’s not only this, to be able to experience this is like a testament to them. A testament that live music is still important even in the age of streaming services and YouTube. This is why they always give 100 percent and try to leave their comfort zone to give their audience an unforgettable show. All the positive feedback they are receiving shows them that all the hard work is worth it in the end. Because it is easily forgotten that being in a Band is not so easy as it sometimes seems. That’s something Arcane Bloom had come to realise as well. Some of the things they underestimated was the time they have to invest in practice, song writing and taking care of their social media, but they know that in the end all of their ambitions are going to pay off.

Now that you know all about them: What can you look forward to in the future? The most important event for is for sure the Planet Festival Band Contest that they will partake in. Even though this is probably the biggest project they are still relentlessly working on new merch, new songs, and maybe even a new music video. We have no doubts that with their ambitions, dedication to their craft and always staying true to themselves they will achieve all this and more.
