Killing Milfs - Loud Music with a Strong Message

There is a new band on the horizon here in Vienna and their name is Killing Milfs. With just a few concerts they have already captured the scene’s hearts and gathered quite the following. Now they got the chance to tell us all about their beginnings, inspirations, what drives them, and their favourite things about being in a band.

It all started for them when frontwoman Fine moved out of a shared apartment with guitarist Moritz, who got his love for music from his dad’s vinyl collection and Green Days American Idiot. They didn’t want their friendship to end and so they decided to form a band to still spend time together. So, they had a singer and a guitarist but no bass or drums, which was solved through the dating app Bumble as Mo, now Killing Milfs drummer, texted Fine about the band and soon joined the duo. This also brought along Lu as a bassist. For the time being that was it but after some time they realised that a second guitarist would be great and that’s what led them to Bandsuche.at, a platform well known by the local band scene. Soon they found Luki and now the line-up for Killing Milfs is final.

While they do not have any released songs yet, we can be looking forward to this soon meanwhile we are able to tell you a bit about their process: Most of the time it’s guitarist Moritz that records a demo and sends it to the others as they wanna be on the same page about all of their tunes. If everyone likes the demo Fine starts writing the lyrics and during that process quite a few changes are made to the original recording by Moritz. That’s okay though as it brought us their songs as they are now, which are, even after only a handful of gigs, crowd favourites. Inspiration for the topics of their music can range from heartbreak to political issues.

Quite a few might be wondering how they came about the name as it isn’t your usual choice, turns out it was a silly, but good, idea born from the fact that the first letters of their names match the letters in those words, almost like an acronym.

Last but not least, we asked them about their favourite things about being in a band and this is what they had to say about that: For them being in a band balances out the daily life of work and university nicely and especially for Fine it’s a time when she can turn her head off and scream into a microphone while playing music with her friends. It’s about creating something together but also showing people from their past that they can indeed do something cool and worthwhile.

If this has piqued your interest and you don’t already know them, you can see them live with “die Änderung” on the 25th of April. And with that we’re gonna end the article with a quote by the band

“Be nice, go vote, and go to protests!”
